Day 10 — Peace in Our Decisions

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”

Colossians 3:15

Summary

One of the most beautiful gifts God gives us is peace as guidance. In Colossians, Paul tells us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts. The word rule means “to act like an umpire” — to make the call, to determine which direction is safe or right.

God’s peace is not only comforting; it is clarifying.

When our minds feel scattered or we stand at a crossroads, His peace becomes the gentle voice that directs our steps.

Insight for Today — Peace as an Umpire

We often try to make decisions by:

  • weighing pros and cons

  • listening to others’ opinions

  • overthinking

  • reacting out of pressure

  • rushing because of fear

But Scripture invites us to a better way:

Let peace make the call.

If something steals your peace, God may be redirecting you.
If something strengthens your peace, He may be confirming you.

Peace is not passive—it is a form of divine leadership.

Going Deeper — When Peace Feels Absent

Sometimes we feel stuck because peace seems silent.
In those moments, God may be saying:

  • “Wait.”

  • “Don’t move yet.”

  • “Let Me lead you step by step.”

Peace is not loud.
It doesn’t push, force, or pressure.
Peace is steady, gentle, and sure.

In a world full of noise and urgency, God’s peace slows us down long enough to hear His direction clearly.

Remember:
Confusion is never from God. Peace is.

If a decision brings anxiety, rushing, or fear, pause and ask:

“Lord, what are You saying through the presence—or absence—of peace?”

Pointing to Jesus

Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and He leads us with peace.
He doesn’t drive us like a taskmaster; He guides us like a gentle, faithful leader.

When the Holy Spirit prompts your heart, His leading will always be marked by peace—even if the step requires courage or faith.

Jesus Himself walked in perfect unity with the Father’s will.
His steps were never rushed, frantic, or confused.

Because peace was His compass, He can teach us to let it become ours too.

Reflection/Prayer

Lord, guide my decisions with Your peace. Where I feel uncertain, quiet my heart. Where I feel pressured, slow my steps. Help me recognize Your peace as the voice that leads me and Your presence as the place where clarity comes. I surrender my choices to You and trust You to direct my path. Amen.

Application Question

What decision are you currently facing that needs the peace of God to “make the call”? How can you pause and listen for His leading today?
