Day 22-Delivered from This Present Age
“Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.” — Galatians 1:4 (NKJV)
Summary
Consecration is not only about what we surrender—it is also about what we are delivered from. Paul reminds us that Jesus did more than forgive our sins. He gave Himself to rescue us from the power and influence of this present age. Salvation is not just about eternity; it is about living free here and now.
Insight for Today
The “present evil age” refers to the values, systems, pressures, and ways of thinking that oppose God’s truth. Jesus did not die merely to prepare us for heaven someday; He died to free us from being shaped by the world today.
Deliverance means we are no longer required to think, live, or define success the way the world does. Consecration is learning to live from this freedom rather than being subtly pulled back into old patterns.
Going Deeper
Paul tells us that Jesus gave Himself according to the will of God. Our rescue was intentional, purposeful, and motivated by love. God’s will was not only to pardon us, but to pull us out of systems that keep us distracted, bound, and spiritually dull.
Consecration is our agreement with God’s will for freedom.
Living Free in a Pulling World
Although we have been delivered, the world still pulls at us—through distraction, comparison, approval-seeking, comfort, fear, and self-focus. Consecration helps us recognize these influences and respond differently.
Freedom is lived out through daily choices. What we give our attention to begins to shape us. What we repeatedly agree with begins to form us.
Consecration and Separation
Deliverance creates separation—not isolation, but distinction. God does not remove us from the world; He frees us from being shaped by it. We are shaped instead by His Word, which renews our thinking, and by the promptings of the Holy Spirit, who gently guides, convicts, and redirects us as we learn to listen and respond. Consecration is choosing to live from a different source, guided by God’s truth rather than cultural pressure.
This separation prepares us to reflect Christ clearly in the midst of the world.
Pointing to Jesus
Jesus stepped into this broken world to rescue us from it. He lived fully surrendered to the Father, untouched by the corruption around Him, and gave Himself completely so we could live free.
Because of Him, we are no longer captive to this present age—we belong to a different kingdom.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for giving Yourself to deliver me from the pull of this world. Help me recognize where old patterns or pressures try to shape my thinking. Teach me to listen to Your Spirit and be anchored in Your Word so I can live set apart for Your purposes. Amen.
Reflection
Where do you notice the strongest pull of this present age in your life, and how might God be inviting you to live more freely from it?
