Day 3 — Hope in God’s Promises

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:20

Summary

One of the greatest sources of hope during Advent is the unfailing truth that God keeps His promises. Every prophecy about Jesus’ birth — His lineage, His birthplace, His mission — was fulfilled with precision. Advent invites us to look back on God’s faithfulness so we can face today with renewed confidence.

Hope grows when we remember that God has never failed to do what He said.

Insight for Today — Standing on the Promises

Life changes. Feelings shift. Circumstances fluctuate.

But God’s Word remains steady.

When everything around you feels uncertain, His promises become the firm ground beneath your feet. This is why Scripture often tells us to “remember,” “hold fast,” and “stand firm.” We aren’t meant to hope blindly — we are meant to hope biblically.

• God promises to be with you.

• God promises to give you wisdom when you ask.

• God promises to finish the good work He started in you.

• God promises that nothing can separate you from His love.

• God promises that He works all things for your ultimate good.

Your hope doesn’t rest on what you see.

Your hope rests on what God has spoken.

Going Deeper — God’s Track Record Never Fails

Every fulfilled prophecy in Scripture is a reminder of His trustworthiness. Jesus’ birth alone fulfilled over 300 prophecies, some written more than a thousand years beforehand. The same God who orchestrated every detail of Christ’s coming is the God who is faithfully at work in your life.

If He kept His Word then, He will keep His Word now.

Hope becomes steady when you rehearse God’s past faithfulness instead of your present fears.

Pointing to Jesus

Jesus is the ultimate confirmation that God keeps His promises. In Him, every prophecy converges, every shadow finds substance, and every “Yes” from the Father is revealed.

Jesus is the assurance that God is not just a Promise-Maker —

He is a Promise-Keeper.

Reflection/Prayer

Father, thank You for every promise You have spoken over my life. Strengthen me to believe Your Word above my feelings. Help me recall the ways You’ve been faithful in the past so my hope can rise again today. Teach me to stand on Your promises with confidence and rest in Your unfailing character. Amen.

Application Question

Which promise from God’s Word do you need to cling to today? How can you remind yourself of that promise throughout the week?
